Ratexla's 6 Nine Inch Nails lists

Updated at appropriate times.

The Nine Inch Nails songs I listen to the most...

From Pretty hate machine:
+Head like a hole (The first I heard of it was a wee piece, but I thought I'd like it!)
+Down in it
+Sanctified (Church vibes... leading to The-Great-Hall-from-Harry-Potter vibes... come sit by the fire, Severus.)
+Something I can never have (If I can ever be arsed to make an Alan Rickman Soundtrack version 2.0, this is so going onto it. A song for Severus.)

From Broken:
+Last (*punches the dry mud*)
+Happiness in slavery (The way I let my amusing obsessions enslave me?)
+Physical (Track #98. Yes.)

From The downward spiral:
+Closer (...)
+Big man with a gun (Mostly for lyrics. No, I now really like the whole thing.)
+A warm place
+The downward spiral (Mostly for lyrics. Solutions...)
+Hurt (Beautiful, esp the whispered parts... and others... and, on a side note, the kingfisher in the video, I almost went Christian from all the symbolism in those 3 s. :O )

From The fragile:
+Somewhat damaged
+The wretched
+We're in this together (Must... never... drive... while listening... to... this song... argh - )
+Even deeper
+The great below (One of my deathbed songs. And lullabies, in the meantime.)
+Into the void (But the best part is the video. Ewww, humans...)
+Where is everybody?
+Please
+Starfuckers, Inc.
+I'm looking forward to joining you, finally

From Still:
+Something I can never have (Combines the Desperate Voice and the 21st Century Voice... (see below.)
+The becoming (Def better than the original, whose background screams gives me visions of fleshy pale humans piled up in hell. Think I got it from some medieval painting in some history book. And that is not the music video of my choice. As it happens.)
+The day the world went away (A still blue shiny ocean on a July morning, it beats the original, and I could make a list of all the pwetty things in that video... Here are some of them for now: warm saturated colours, feather, flowers, fine sand, Trent, little black grains, black snake, yellow crystal.)
+And all that could have been
+Leaving hope

From With teeth:
+All the love in the world
+The hand that feeds (The intro subtly comes pounding up from some rebel basement, then the new badass Political!Trent jumps out at you!)
+Love is not enough
+Only (My first Nine Inch Nails song, at least the refrain stuck... 2 years later I remembered the song as "pretty good & sexy"! It turned out I had remembered it partly wrong, but whattehell!)
+Getting smaller
+Beside you in time (The pounding is half the torture! Nah. I started to like this after I saw the trailer for the Beside you in time DVD, which I suppose I will get some time. Lovely elegant magical animalistic sweaty dreamy LIVE NINE INCH NAILS TRAILER. :D )
+Right where it belongs (Good all the way, but when his voice suddenly becomes un-distorted and the crowd cheers... *bristle*)

From Year zero:
+Hyperpower! (The sound of a certain invaded concert? My death of choice. If their aim is true, at least.)
+The beginning of the end (And almost the beginning of the lovely lovely Year zero. I remember when I first put it on...)
+Survivalism (My buddy the Nine Inch Nails-sceptic likes this! :B )
+Me, I'm not (I didn't think much of it at first, but heard it in a new... light in the background of a Trent interview.)
+Capital G (Mostly for lyrics. TrentRez4Prez.)
+The warning (Mostly for lyrics. THE PRESENCE FOR PRESIDENT! *hands the presence a piece of organic hemp cloth*)
+Another version of the truth (Nice lullaby. I just like to listen to and envision each beat. Hypnosis? :9 The first part sounds tense, perhaps building up to... to a nuke explosion! Which of course fucks up the microphone placed next to it, so only a soft noise fades into the second part, my fave. Its... temperature varies. Like the warm air rising now and then from a bus radiator. The warmth is spindly, but at least your frozen fingers cheer (the finger-cheering way) each time it hits them.) But anyway - what would the title have to to with my initial mental video? Anotherversionofthetruth.com shows a peaceful field with some worrying text. If you scrape the picture with your cursor it reveals one of a degraded industrial wasteland. Because... the cute dream came true for a time, and for a chosen few, but since it is presently carried out in an unsustainable manner, the ruined scene beneath is just as true, for others, or will be for all, if not enough is done to prevent it. Both pictures are "brought to you by the US Bureau of Morality". They can create the fleeting dream and the resulting nightmare.)
+In this twilight (Love at first hearing. Our last day.)
+Zero-sum (Love at first hearing. The last song in the history of human civilisation. And there is whispering...)

From Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D:
+The great destroyer remixed by Modwheelmood (Faceslap to me: I, the remix-hater, tossed the CD in the player, listened with interest to the first track because at least that was Saul and one of my fave original tracks - then The great destroyer came on and I found myself grinning fool-happily during the first listen... Oh, a remix that doesn't go BLIP BLIP BLIP and requires dancing. Slow and kind of acoustic. Sadder! I'm not crazy about the original, though I like the lyrics (well, what I imagine they're about... which may be several things...) - now it's perfect. Nearly - where did "the limitless potential" go?)
+Another version of the truth remixed by Kronos & Enrique Gonzalez Müller (I find this as enjoyable as the original version. Squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, the sound of Godzilla - or some more normal animal - thirsting to death on the Scorched Earth, squeak-squeak-squeak, a bit of a collapse. That second post-apocalyptic part sounds quite HAPPY and could almost pass for a Jane Austen movie soundtrack. If the Austen movie in question were to feature some ivy-covered factory chimneys in the background, aye.)
+In this twilight remixed by Fennesz (Also just as lovely as the original, but this too sounds... happier and (even?) more hopeful. Whaz that swishing overhead - nuclear missiles, mayhap? Siiiiiiinging in the missile rain... You know, that is very interesting, because I heard that most species are much more radiation tolerant than humans. :B Anyway. The final note fades out almost forever, like a supernova sending Trentdust all over the universe, where eventually it may nourish another biosphere. SNIFFLE.)

From Ghosts I-IV:
+3 Ghosts I (Perfect I.)
+12 Ghosts II (Illegal elephant products and rainforest wood Some fearless piano and a ghostly whisp of noise lived ran together in perfect harmony, like a little velvetty grey Arabian horse suddenly being joined by a rockin' Friesian on its morning sand jog. Yes, I did recently watch The young black stallion clips on Youtube. Cuz I never heard of that movie getting released. :p )
+13 Ghosts II (Ever since, after about 2 whole listens, I had it pointed out to me by Meathead and some fangirl that it contains BREATHING. A breathing ghost. *crankup*)
+14 Ghosts II (Perfect II. It reminds me a little of the scene in Gladiator where the cam spins around Team Maximus et Juba in Zucchabar, for they are caught in an upward (or should that be downward?) spiral (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) of success, fame, insanity, adrenaline, arse-sand and groupie-counts! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Then there is that euphoric, drunkedly dancing, howling guitar on TOP of the perfection!)
+20 Ghosts III (Random guitar comes floating into the soundscape. Like a ghost. Or a Dementor.)
+24 Ghosts III (I agree with Meathead. 80's car chase.)
+32 Ghosts IV (The first perfect Ghost to haunt my fave list. Flustering! Kind of porny! However, Meathead's sharing his vision of another 80's car chase cooled me off a little. Fuck.)

Miscellaneous:
+Suck (Some drum 'n' bass version of this Pigface cover.)
+Burn (From the Natural born killers soundtrack. I remember like 1 fragment of that movie... but I like it already. Again. *weep* Fuck. *dab* I tend to listen to this, among others, after, er, heated discussions about -)
+Dead souls (Joy Division cover from the soundtrack of The crow. I have it on CD, but this live version from the Reading Festival in 2007 is even... even...)
+Past the mission (With Tori Amos. *slrrrrp* Orange chocolate. Can I get the multitracks though plzthnx, I can barely hear Trent. Still, my heart vibrates with the frequency of his voice. Btw, I've now checked out 3 Tori albums and my mum likes her too.)
+Falling (Quake track without official title.)
+(Intro) Whisper (Outro) (Quake track without official title.)
+Pulse (Quake track without official title.)
+First born (Quake track without official title.)
+Driver down (From the Lost highway soundtrack. Hmm, on my unofficial compilation CD it's called Drive her down, which is implied to be a reference to...)
+Metal (Gary Numan cover. Love at first hearing due to much sexiness.)
+Deep (From the Tomb raider soundtrack. I don't claim to like it only because everyone hates it.)
+Non-entity
+Flyentology (With El-P. Ahhh! The Desperate Voice... but not enough of it...)
+Break (With Saul Williams. There's some Trent voice in it somewhere...)
+WTF! (With Saul Williams.)

-------------------------------------

My mum's favourite Nine Inch Nails songs... Why yes, I enjoy making lists.

+Terrible lie
+And all that could have been
+Leaving hope
+Only ("This one's good too! A few songs are difficult but other than that they're pretty good! One gets used to it! You have INDOCTRINATED me! I let it get under my skin... I let you pump it through my - veinssssahhhhhhhhh...")
+Right where it belongs
+Zero-sum

-------------------------------------

Works to which Year zero gives me more or less intense flashbacks...

Books:
+Collapse by Jared Diamond (He, however, claims we are NOT doomed from the start. *looks from jared to trent as if at some tennis game* Then I found this title among the Year zero banned media and died of happiness. But not of surprise... Btw: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is also among the banned media. That killed me again. TRENT - ?! :D Oh, wonderful banned media... in general. *extends must-read list* And - the Year zero sites are visible to us because the Solutions Backwards Initiative group sent them back through time? :) Hence the distorted look of them? Ahhhhhhhhh.)
+On the beach by Nevil Shute (Soy milkshake, check. Zero-sum, check. Cyanide pill, check. Euthanised pets, check. The sand is cooling.)
+Lady Chatterley's lover by D.H. Lawrence (I haven't got any English edition in my possession, but something the lover says about... what calms him...)
+The stand by Stephen King (Bloody repopulation. Anyway, I heard that fragments of it are visible on one of the Year zero sites...! Hmm, can't find it on the Banned media page... No matter.)

Films:
+Children of men ('Twas the chimneys. Bloody repopulation again.)
+E.T. (Environmentalist from space, kind of like the Presence. If the latter is an alien.)
+Soldier (Post-apocalyptic society on a garbage planet. I believe it is called kitchen sink realism.)
+The wild blue yonder (I could just go ahead and officially proclaim its ending my favouritest ever ever.)
+Terminator 1 (Love. And dogs. Love.)
+Terminator 2 (This film is so perfect that I haven't even got the DVD. I mentioned the Terminator movies in the review I had to write for On the beach.)
+Terminator 3

---------------------------

Supposedly Year zero-related books I have not read...

+Oh, PROOOOOOOOBABLY 1984, by George Orwell
+They thought they were free by Milton Mayer (Trent mentioned it in a certain interview, could be useful reading...)
+Swan song by Robert McCammon (Recommended in a Nine Inch Nails blog comment. "It's about life after nuclear war, but it's like Stephen King meets....I don't know. Weird stuff, and not like real life, but interesting just the same.")
+Left behind: A novel of the Earth's last days by Tim F. LaHaye (Recommended in a Nine Inch Nails blog comment... "...basically the Book of Revelation set to fictional characters, all that YZ encompasses is right there."
+The road by Cormac McCarthy (Recommended in a Nine Inch Nails blog comment! :O "...a post-apocalyptic story about a father and son crossing America after a nuclear war.")

I want to eat you, books.

---------------------------

Some shit to love about Trent/Nine Inch Nails...

Random:
+His ad against fur
+My x favourite songs
+His Artistic Integrity... even while he was still on a record label
+The Presence
+His dogs
+The Year zero-related artwork
+His treatment of fans on a small scale (judging by what Everybody reports)
+His treatment of fans on a large scale
+The Ghosts video contest which resulted in many a violent clash between battling, camera-slinging fans film festival... Yeah, I AM gonna get my filming off the ground. Soon.
+His new method of music distribution
+The range between emotions and between eras expressed in the songs (Range also happens to be one of the things I appreciate most in... actors... In this case, I love trying and failing to believe that it's the same bloke performing March of the pigs and Another version of the truth, or blooper-giggling on MTV. Or it could all just be my a) people-prejudices b) prosopagnosia. He seems so sincere, and (as someone pointed out) does not appear to be slaving under some stereotypical image of himself but will curse and giggle as he pleases. :9 Aye, it's fun to shock people.)
+His unwillingness to discuss lyrics (Me and poetry... :p I was getting a bit nervous about interpreting things the wrong way because doing so will cause hairy palms and lightning strikes... when I could guess at any meaning at all, that is. After I had heard him say what he said, the lyrics entered a less solid state and trickled into every corner of the unit known as Yoze, working as a key that would more often than before find a fit. Thanks for your blessing, dahling. :B )
+His ability to get off drugs
+His ability to get off record labels
+His sense of humour
+His blog
+His cursing

Vocals:
+His whispering voice
+His singing voice
+His 21st century voice
+His desperate voice
+His speaking voice (Bloody 'ell. I hereby declare that Trent has my favourite voice of all non-Brits. "...fucked us", "Charles, that is", "...while you're hiding in the trees", "...that you're the reason..." *lobotomises self with ice pick in order to block all other distracting sensory perceptions*)

Year zero sites:
+The Mailstrom with keys
+Grace the Teacher
+The Hour of Arrival
+Operation Swamp 0000
+The popup message from Consolidated Mail Systems
+The Situational Anxiety Disorder Quiz
+The Price of Treason
+Hollywood in Memoriam
+The Viability index

Yoze is visually oriented a shallow bitch:
+His eyes
+His 2005 hair
+His height
+His ~2000 eyeliner
+His nose
+His 1994 hair
+His name
+His eyebrows

Oh, to have been there for the release of...

...Pretty hate machine back in 1989!
The first Nine Inch Nails album! My age of 6 at the time should not have hindered me, ffs, seeing how my taste for rock was founded no later than 1990 or so (when I got my first real record and attended my first concert - double-thank you, Gianna Nannini). I wonder if I heard any Nine Inch Nails hit on the radio in 1989? What if I had noticed it, and liked it, and - and - uh...

...The downward spiral back in 1994!
The most famous Nine Inch Nails album, I suppose. The breakthrough? So I wouldn't have been able to say "I was among the first 4 people to discover Nine Inch Nails" - something I still cannot say, ACTUALLY. I also would have been subjected to 1 cancelled Swedish concert and 1 decade of waiting for Nine Inch Nails to return here, but at least I would have had the live experience by now. (TIMES 2 OR SUMMAT!) And the ability to brag about my decade of fan-suffering. (Speaking of suffering, think I had my first suicidal thoughts in 1994. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. On the other hand, my English sucked. Harder.)

...The fragile back in 1999!
The most anticipated album of the 90's? The one that would Save Rock? :)

...With teeth back in 2005!
Trent survived, Trent got clean and Trent made another album. That would kind of have been cause for celebration. As would said album's rockiness.

...Year zero back in the thickening fogs of April 2007!
My favourite Nine Inch Nails album and its wicked, mysterious, confusing surrounding art project!

...Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D back in - oh dear!
The record shop said they expected to get it on November 28, 2007. I stomped in there around noon and they had not unpacked it yet. Mrrrrr. Shouldn't someone have grown tired of tossing and turning, unlocked the shop around 3am and unpacked a few CD:s before opening time? :p They need me.

...Ghosts I-IV back on March 2, 2008!
Only ~19 years late, wee I shall knowingly witness the release of a completely new Nine Inch Nails album. According to the stats, it will contain something fucking marvellous. Actually I still missed this release by 4 hours. BLADDY 'ELL! It happened just like this:
December!Trent: *posts cosy mysterious studio photos at nin.com*
Trent on February 7: "We have been very busy doing secret things. We’ll start to tell you about them soon."
Trent on February 16: "2 weeks"
Ratexla: *freerides on others' calculations that this means march 1*
March 1: *arrives quietly*
Ratexla: "Dare I go to the sci-fi con today? In case NIN.com gets updated? Btw, no, fuck the sci-fi con, I'll go tomorrow... but now I got all geared up to go, so I'll just check out the record shop for a bit."
Trent on March 1: "Soon..."
Ratexla: *returns home to find above post*
Ratexla: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Ratexla: *recalls meathead's recurring definition of trent's definition of "soon"*
Ratexla: "Just in case something really will happen on March 1, I'll spend half the night in front of NIN.com, commenting and reloading. Because I cannot wait to see what will happen, and I don't want to look like a shitty fan with a fucking life."
NIN.com: "Soon..."
NIN.com: "Soon..."
NIN.com: "Soon..."
Ratexla: "It's the perfect time for me to distribute those 150 Animal Rights Sweden pamphlets tonight though. Trent would understand. [Tough shit if he wouldn't.]"
NIN.com: "Soon..."
NIN.com: "Soon..."
Fellow blog commentator: "If he really posted that from Hong Kong, he's probably asleep right now."
Ratexla: "Good point. I will sleep until it's morning in Hong Kong. Or even a few hours more, so I can stay up tomorrow morning... and reload."
Ratexla: "SNORE."
Ratexla's paper gnome phone: *BEEP*
NIN.com: "Soon..."
Ratexla: *gets around the paper district abnormally quickly*
NIN.com: "Soon..."
March 2: *is*
Ratexla: "Hey, I'm going to the sci-fi con... If you're gonna be surfing anyway, could you check NIN.com every now and then and call me if it's updated?"
Folks: "WTF?! YOU ARE TAKING THIS TOO FAR!"
Ratexla: *stalks sci-fi stars (but first, makes another shocking discovery)*
NIN.com: "Soon..."
NIN.com: "Soon..."
Ratexla: "Yawn. Well, it's no longer March 1 anywhere, not in Hong Kong, not in LA... So... whatever will happen may happen at any time during the next few weeks now, eh? Sweet, I can go to bed."
Ratexla: "SNORE."
Trent: "Tick tock... Tick tock..."
Ratexla: "SNORE."
Trent: "2 hours"
Ratexla: "SNORE." :)
Ratexla: *dreams about tori amos and trent, fyi*
Ratexla: *cruelly kicks computer into action*
Trent: "Ghosts I-IV - The new Nine Inch Nails record is available RIGHT NOW."
Ratexla: *blink*

...ah, fuck it! Option 30's album, of which I hear there are 1000 copies!
I'm looking, I'm looking... :)

Ratexla's unprofessional & not very annual Oscar... non-bets

Con commentz. Carin may herewith consider her wish for a certain review granted (it deals mainly with pants and slaughter videos).

Best Motion Picture of the Year
-Atonement (2007): Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Paul Webster
-Juno (2007): Lianne Halfon, Mason Novick, Russell Smith
-Michael Clayton (2007): Sydney Pollack, Jennifer Fox, Kerry Orent
-No Country for Old Men (2007): Ethan Coen, Joel Coen, Scott Rudin
-There Will Be Blood (2007): Paul Thomas Anderson, Daniel Lupi, JoAnne Sellar

+This is starting out well as I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY OF THE FILMS IN THE MOST "IMPORTANT" CATEGORY. That means they have nominated the wrong movies. However, I read about There will be blood yesterday and, uh, it's about oil and stuff, in the olde days. Still it reminds me of Nine Inch Nails' newer work. :D

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role
-George Clooney for Michael Clayton (2007)
-Daniel Day-Lewis for There Will Be Blood (2007)
-Johnny Depp for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
-Tommy Lee Jones for In the Valley of Elah (2007)
-Viggo Mortensen for Eastern Promises (2007)

+Cuz Johnny was working with Alan & Sacha... Well, nothing wrong with Johnny either. I'm surprised I'm not obsessed with him. Aaaaaaaaaand I HAVE seen Sweeney Todd! Flashback to Earthlings.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role
-Cate Blanchett for Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007)
-Julie Christie for Away from Her (2006)
-Marion Cotillard for Môme, La (2007)
-Laura Linney for The Savages (2007)
-Ellen Page for Juno (2007)

+Cate is my fave among these! Elizabeth I II is on my gonna-see list, even though I didn't get shit of the first one. *bites into another flax seed*

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role
-Casey Affleck for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)
-Javier Bardem for No Country for Old Men (2007)
-Philip Seymour Hoffman for Charlie Wilson's War (2007)
-Hal Holbrook for Into the Wild (2007)
-Tom Wilkinson for Michael Clayton (2007)

+Um, yeah, Into the wild is on my will-see list. I just gotta read the book first. After I've read 64 other books. I heard that it's about/for the kind of people who have read too much Jack London (my fave piece of fiction is THE CALL OF THE WILD!) and Henry Thoreau (my fave piece of non-fiction is THE FUTURE OF LIFE, WHICH CONTAINS A CHAPTER ABOUT THOREAU! I also wanna read Thoreau's book about civil disobedience. Dunnask. :D ). The background story sounds like something I would have liked to do when I was 12 and suicidal...er. Who is Hal Holbrook? This was a tough choice since Casey Affleck is rumoured to be best buddies with my fave piece of mankind, JOAQUIN PHOENIX!

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role
-Cate Blanchett for I'm Not There. (2007)
-Ruby Dee for American Gangster (2007)
-Saoirse Ronan for Atonement (2007)
-Amy Ryan for Gone Baby Gone (2007)
-Tilda Swinton for Michael Clayton (2007)

+Fuck it, let's get Cate another one.

Best Achievement in Directing
-Paul Thomas Anderson for There Will Be Blood (2007)
-Ethan Coen, Joel Coen for No Country for Old Men (2007)
-Tony Gilroy for Michael Clayton (2007)
-Jason Reitman for Juno (2007)
-Julian Schnabel for Scaphandre et le papillon, Le (2007)

+The one I'd most like to see in this category cuz... I've briefly attempted to imagine such a life.

Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen
-Juno (2007): Diablo Cody
-Lars and the Real Girl (2007): Nancy Oliver
-Michael Clayton (2007): Tony Gilroy
-Ratatouille (2007): Brad Bird, Jan Pinkava, Jim Capobianco
-The Savages (2007): Tamara Jenkins

+I have seen a few minutes of Ratatouille... (In Swedish, alas.) Rats rule. The Juno trailer actually sounded terribly promising, but seeing how it's from the anti-death lobby... (Yeah yeah yeah, I know it officially ISN'T... *puts recycled Al foil on head... or somewhere else*)

Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published
-Atonement (2007): Christopher Hampton
-Away from Her (2006): Sarah Polley
-Scaphandre et le papillon, Le (2007): Ronald Harwood
-No Country for Old Men (2007): Joel Coen, Ethan Coen
-There Will Be Blood (2007): Paul Thomas Anderson

+AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Again, seen none. The one that's supposedly from the pro-imagination lobby, then.

Best Achievement in Cinematography
-The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007): Roger Deakins
-Atonement (2007): Seamus McGarvey
-No Country for Old Men (2007): Roger Deakins
-Scaphandre et le papillon, Le (2007): Janusz Kaminski

-Into the Wild (2007): Jay Cassidy

-There Will Be Blood (2007): Dylan Tichenor

+A London-Thoreau thingy can't not have BRILLIANT EDITING!

Best Achievement in Art Direction
-American Gangster (2007): Arthur Max, Beth A. Rubino
-Atonement (2007): Sarah Greenwood, Katie Spencer
-The Golden Compass (2007): Dennis Gassner, Anna Pinnock
-Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007): Dante Ferretti, Francesca Lo Schiavo
-There Will Be Blood (2007): Jack Fisk, Jim Erickson

+Mmmmmmmmmmhm, it had pretty nice art direction I guess... When does this list end, I'm relatively unobsessed with movies at the mo.

Best Achievement in Costume Design
-Across the Universe (2007): Albert Wolsky
-Atonement (2007): Jacqueline Durran
-Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007): Alexandra Byrne
-Môme, La (2007): Marit Allen
-Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007): Colleen Atwood

+Alanpants... Sacha...pants or whatever... Johnnystripedbathingsuit... Thanx.

-Môme, La (2007): Didier Lavergne, Jan Archibald
-Norbit (2007): Rick Baker, Kazuhiro Tsuji
-Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007): Ve Neill, Martin Samuel

+The one with the bloke with eyeliner/eyeshadow/it's one of those/I should work in an evil bimbo makeup shop and fail to endorse animal-tested shit! Sooty-eyed blokes, though... See also: Sweeney Todd, Gladiator, Trent during the Fragile era.

Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score
-Atonement (2007): Dario Marianelli
-The Kite Runner (2007): Alberto Iglesias

-Michael Clayton (2007): James Newton Howard
-Ratatouille (2007): Michael Giacchino
-3:10 to Yuma (2007): Marco Beltrami

+Didn't he do the Vertical limit soundtrack? Which was good.

Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song
-August Rush (2007): Jamal Joseph, Charles Mack, Tevin Thomas ("Raise It Up")
-Enchanted (2007): Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz ("Happy Working Song")
-Enchanted (2007): Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz ("So Close")
-Enchanted (2007): Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz ("That's How You Know")
-Once (2006): Glen Hansard, Markéta Irglová ("Falling Slowly")

+Happy working song sounds like shit (title-wise, I ain't heard it)... So close, however, sounds closer to Closer, the classic Nine Inch Nails tune we always used to sing during Kindergarten assembly... No, of course we didn't, for that was in the EIGHTIES, SILLY!

Best Achievement in Sound
-The Bourne Ultimatum (2007): Scott Millan, David Parker, Kirk Francis
-No Country for Old Men (2007): Skip Lievsay, Craig Berkey, Greg Orloff, Peter F. Kurland

+*SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK*

Best Achievement in Sound Editing
-The Bourne Ultimatum (2007): Karen M. Baker, Per Hallberg
-No Country for Old Men (2007): Skip Lievsay
-Ratatouille (2007): Randy Thom, Michael Silvers
-There Will Be Blood (2007): Matthew Wood
-Transformers (2007): Mike Hopkins, Ethan Van der Ryn

+Squeak.

Best Achievement in Visual Effects
-The Golden Compass (2007): Michael L. Fink, Bill Westenhofer, Ben Morris, Trevor Wood
-Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007): John Knoll, Hal T. Hickel, Charlie Gibson, John Frazier
-Transformers (2007): Scott Farrar, Scott Benza, Russell Earl, John Frazier

+Was it Compass that enchanted Carin so greatly, or was it Enchanted? I'll just take my chances with Compass. *shrug* Though Johnny Sparrow is visually tasty.

Best Animated Feature Film of the Year
-Persepolis (2007): Vincent Paronnaud, Marjane Satrapi
-Ratatouille (2007): Brad Bird

May Bob have mercy on our dirty little hearts.

Wow. Nobody can discover Nine Inch Nails later than I did.

Not my fave... band? ever ever ever, but I found it like this... Something like this:

~Around friggin 1997 I read an ole entertainment mag featuring a list that was pooooooossibly titled "How to scare grandma away". One of the tips was "Play Nine Inch Nails. Especially the song -" WHAT SONG DID THEY RECOMMEND, if any?! :) Closer, perhaps? Well. I had never heard (of) Nine Inch Nails, but remembered the name for eternity as it gave me a vision of curled, filthy, world-record-long finger nails. Scratching chalkboards and silken skin. Uhu! And seeing how they were recommended in this way, I figured it must be the most evil, badass, noisy band in the universe. Good to know - in 1997 I was concocting a cunning plan on how to scare realtors and would-be buyers from our lovely rental summer house. :) It involved presenting a spotless room to my anxious folks on inspection, and whipping up a post-apocalyptic room to show the buyers 10 minutes later. I made a drawing describing the method. (Display a frightening road sign on the wall, spill substances on the floor, etc.) It was not at all the most exquisite picture ever produced. And it is gone. Somewhere. :C *weep* Hehe, the above wasn't that important. Good times though. (The plan was never realised and the house was sold.) But I wonder if Nine Inch Nails was streaming from the drawing's portable CD player? Maybe not... I knew no lyrics after all. And we listened mostly to E-Type that summer. Badass. How annoying, I SHOULD have checked out Nine Inch Nails that very autumn! XC Once I had read that list it WAS, officially or not, on my list of bands to check out briefly before my death, even though I hardly expected to enjoy... the noise. But there were other artists, more interesting... *shuddering sob*

~2003 brought sweet RICKMANIA. On IMDB:s Alan forum the Snape fans were going and going and going and going and going and going on about some Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails (or so it feels). Aha, that scary band. Well, I suppose I clicked on some picture link to see what I thought about their comparisons between him and Snape. "Maybe a bit." :/ I clicked Back and forgot. Nowadays: "Icarenotifheisamericangobackto1994thento2006-andsmuggletheboyintosnapesworstmemoryscenedammit!"

~In the summer of 2005 I had figured out how to record things from the TV to my beloved DVD recorder, so I kept MTV on and without food or sleep I waited for my fave videos to pop up so that I could make a nice DVD version of old times' MTV tapes. A video I did not care to deev was... (this must have been in 2005, right?) Only by Nine Inch Nails. And that is the only Nine Inch Nails song I remember being played on anything I listened to or watched... :( So I listened. "That doesn't sound like the most badass band in the universe. Sounds kinda normal. Can't get a good look at the pin-creature though." He sounded older than I had imagined. Had I imagined anything? In any case... That was not the worst voice I had heard, I noted in the back of me head and moved on with my life. If only I had not...

~In 2006, I was too busy worrying about something all through the summer job hunting season, maybe that's why I had to make do with the paper gnome mission... :)

~...without which I might not have landed THIS year's district. (And if I had been jolly and normal, I might have found another job.) The paper gnome gets a few papers of her own each day, if she does the job right. On August 7, 2007, I was browsing backwards through the entertainment section of each paper as usual and spotted (in a paper I wouldn't have read but for my gnome job) some boring headline saying... nothing about Nine Inch Nails or the Reznor bloke, but it was an interview with him, I noticed. Thought I'd read it. I did. Wooooooooooo!

Ratexla's diary: "He seems nice and his new record seems cool. I should check. It's called Year zero."
Interviewer, magically calling from the page: "Did you know they're playing in Stockholm tonight?! :D"
Ratexla: "Whatever. Wonder if I'm gonna fall in love with Trent. His singing WAS pretty nice, and here he complains about people who think global warming is a myth. Is it hot in here or is it just Trent?"

I considered the matter for a few days, ordered the CD, survived the death-plunging and returned home to the newly arrived Year zero. Late, so I soon hopped into bed and hit Play.

Year zero: *BOINK BZZZZZZZZZZZ SCREEEEEECH*
Ratexla: "Oh... fuck, the sound of dustbins rolling downhill. It was to be expected. I doubt I can get used to this, but the idea was cool nevertheless, so I had to check. Tomorrow I will read the interesting, inaudible lyrics, prolly put the CD on the shelf forever, or sell it, and be happy for the experience." *CRASH*

The next day I did read all the lyrics and was awaaaaaaake during the last 2 songs - In this twilight and Zero-sum, both of which I liked instantly. :)

Ratexla: "I will at least listen to THESE again!" *goes trentsurfing*
Fan on forum: "I had to listen to Year zero a few times before I could like it..."
Ratexla: "Def more chances for you, little CD..."
Site-owning fan: "Nine Inch Nails is not everyone's cuppa, but if you are meant to be a fan, you will find your way to it..."
Ratexla: "Beautiful."

By nightfall, I didn't find it too bad, even musically, AND I was tolerably high on crush drug. :) After a coupla days, several songs were brain-splattingly listenable. Steel in the night, down the road from Terminator 2... (Oh, today yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the start of THAT war, innit. :O ) Flicking a raven feather to tickle my apocalyptic fancies. When I lie dying of radiation sickness, perhaps I can pull the CD booklet out of my torn, burned pocket and read a little, unless the nuclear blast has skinned me like a cat.

2 days after Year zero I was ready to drill my way through the Himalayas with a toothbrush to go and get the first album. I just took the bus though.

Ratexla: "Severus...?"

2 days later I got the famous The downward spiral, and unless postal service fucks up with The fragile, that's on its way... :) Thereafter I shall no longer be confined to merely standing around record shops, caressing, sniffing, licking, biting, sucking, hugging and ogling With teeth, nooooooo... :9 Damn, now I've hyped it for myself. :p And it will turn out to be one of them things that feature 2 LOVELY HIT SONGS plus x rotting shrimp corpses.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease come back to somewhere near me... soon... I must see Nine Inch Nails live before I die. (Or after, if necessary. Though in the latter case I would lack vision.) By still refusing to abbreviate the name I am vainly trying to make up for the partly lost years since I came to know it. :p Not only concerts were missed... During my Trentsurfing I found a group huddled in a forum thread, speaking of how Nine Inch Nails had been like a friend to them in their lives as outcasts. 1997-1998! I was blissfully ignorant of many things that now drive me off 99th floor window ledges... But I was never more... decidedly depressed or... intensely, continuously suicidal. I lived, as you can see. Undiagnosed, not super-serious, got up in the mornings, never fingered razorblades (uh... I had none, and I'd prefer pills), and was probably worried about being so abnormal and ugly and bloke-less, or about my shortage of friends. Friends like Nine Inch Nails? :B

Wee job + Ewan + The return of the native + photos

Today marks 3 YEARS since I "met" ALAN... :D And 34 days from now I will be back behind the barricades at LEICESTER SQUARE! I wonder if Alan will attend, however, cuz I hear he's doing some wine movie in Cali "this summer".

But yesterday was also goody-good-good:

1. Somebody rang. Twas for me. They said they were the paper people. I dropped dead, for I had been told that any negative answer to my paper girl application would arrive by mail. :D

Woman: "...Soooooo, we've got a car district for you [10 km away]! :D"
Yozeheart: *floorsplat*
Yoze: "Er... I'm afraid I was mostly after a walking district, cuz I won't have as much access to the car this year." (The car is going to Norway for 1 week - like last year, when I got time off, so I didn't want to ask this time, and anyway, my folks didn't like the car-manhandling, the car didn't like carrying around papers *SCREECH* *BURN* *BANG*, and I think my knee didn't like to hit the pedals 400 times a day (3 s after I quit, the car went to the shop and the pedals became MUCH easier to move...), and I didn't like casting a shadow of death on wheels & cats. I didn't say all that though, sounds whiny and picky. (As it is, I sound more like I have irresponsibly lost me license.) Oh, and a few people could probably have walked around my 30 km ex-district and saved some petrol. Not that they won't find drivers now, I'm just sayin.)
Woman: "Oh! We can probably fix THAT! [YOU get to pick & choose between our 6000000 districts FIRST OF ALL cuz WE WANT YOU!]"
Yozeheart: *PING!*
Woman: "Lessee, there IS a walking district [1 km away], July 16 to August 11, and could you do 2 additional Sundays before then? Then I think it would be best if you trained with the Sunday girl twice before that. [Training = pay :) ] I shall mail you all the info."
Yoze: "THAT'S FUCKING FABULOUS!" (I did not say.)
Woman: "Btw, I see now that the Sunday girl wanted to be on holiday until... Hmm, could you do August 12 as well?"
Yoze: "SQUEE!"

Not loads of hours of course... But I will get freedom (from visible customers & long days), EXERCISE!, roedeer sightings, references, cat encounters AND money. Hehe, paid to take morning walks thru a cute neighbourhood and the heavy floral scents welling out of nightly gardens. I don't think my feet like 2 h walks, but it's been done before. Deal with it, feet.

I'll try to bring the ole CD walkman.

This autumn I will of course ask again at that book shop. Whimper! Among other things. Most likely I will not get it, but maybe a paper district... The lady who rang said they had better give me my own cart and such "because that would be simplest if you won't see the weekday person... And maybe you would get a reason to keep the stuff..." Hehe. A Sunday morning job, mmm... Only 2-3 hours a week, SO ONE HAS TIME TO STUDY OR SUMMAT, but the pay ain't horrible.

Also good for filling out whatever shit salary I will get post-uni, if I get a hatable real job (40 h/week) then.

2. The old ER ep starring Ewan aired! I knew, and deeved it. He was fab. (As he will be in OTHELLO, played on a London stage from DECEMBER TO FEBRUARY, so it may coincide with the London premiere of SWEENEY TODD, which of course stars ALAN and SACHA, and I would not hate to see JOHNNY either, which is quite possible now that I have secured some INCOME... *COUGH* Uhhhh, I want me winter schedule.)

3. My audiobook arrived - The return of the native by Thomas Hardy, read by ALAN. 15 h 45 min of THE VOICE! ON CD, AT LAST! I will save the sweet shit for summer = after June 1. Or 2. I took my bike and picked it up near MY NEW DISTRICT, which I'm not very familiar with, so I rode in there and said hello to all my new mailboxes. Soon you will be MINE, ONLY MINE!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA! I hope the box/house numbering is better than it seemed.

4. Someone contacted me about horsie pix, she will possibly pay for some.

Chickenshit in the arena

My folks have eloped to the happy Paris for a few days. Paid for by somebody's workplace. Of course I never planned to go along, IN CASE I GOT A JOB... ha... ha... ha... and now it would have cost 3000 SEK to drag me there. I'm saving myself for a last-minute trip somewhere. I have no idea where to go, which is fine, since I can make a last-minute decision any day... Hence my feeling that I'll never get around to go anywhere. :p And I've never travelled alone to a place I've never been, rilly. If chickenshit goes alone, she'll get lost, get on the wrong plane, wrong bus, wrong hotel, get left behind, robbed, raped, infected, parasitically oppressed, mutilated, enslaved, murdered and dumped. Aye. But then, some of those things could happen anywhere.

Where the feck should I go, though? FREEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!! Uh... Greece, Croatia, maybe Spain are fluttering around in me head. If it goes well, it could be so cool. (:B

~*~

To get out, about, heavily exercised, maddeningly stimulated, filthy rich, deliciously crisp-burned, insanely famous & orangely tanned, I have started shooting small-time showjumping. I mostly did international, indoor, distant stuff before, and have hardly ever been to one of these little outdoor local competitions. I surely haven't been in one! :p It's... it's... just like in them horse novels of my youth. Potentially. *anxiety attack* COMMON EVENTS IN THEM HORSE NOVELS OF MY YOUTH: X gets too tall/old to keep riding/competing her beloved pony. X's overly ambitious parents sell her beloved pony, possibly to the meat market. Or: X finishes second out of only 3975 competitors. Overly ambitious parents spank her good.

Some sure get spanked a lot at those competitions. Is it just me, or do loads of riders whip their horses when the latter refuse fences for getting spooked or coming at it in a suboptimal way? (Of course, I suck at seeing the difference between that and the horsie trying to make the rider their bitch, or something.) Yeah, maybe that'll get the horse thinking "I SUDDENLY HAVE A GREAT FEELING ABOUT THIS PREVIOUSLY SCARY SHIT AND I CANNOT WAIT TO APPROACH IT AGAIN!" But what do I know...! :C *mutter*

What about dressage? Whipz are outlawed there, aren't they? How do THEY survive without? Hey, jumping and racing might get more interesting without. Cleansed, ya know. :B Well, the pony racers aren't allowed whips! (Another bizarre difference between pony and TB racing is that everyone in contact with the racing ponies must wear helmets. I mean... as in nobody ever got their brains mashed by a TB? Um...)

Hehe, I could take up shooting dressage and pony racing only... MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! And mounted games of course...

Approximate scale of fun, photo-wise:
Jumping > Mounted games > Arabian racing > Pony racing > Thoroughbred racing > Dressage

But... but... staring at small-time dressage...? :/ *evil* Well, we'll see... Maybe I'd lose a load of Real Guy Photographers that way! Maybe they only like da jumping action! :B *prejudiced* *sadly action-lovin*

At the latest competition I had to share my planet with an Evil Other Photographer who was also a Real Photographer! He had huge equipment, access to the paddock, a humble servant, a tent containing a laptop + printer, and a deal with the judge, who screamed every now and then "BUY HIS PHOTOS IN THAT TENT OVER THERE!"

Wonder if they'll want more photos... when mine are all edited, 4000 years from now. Must build wee reputation.

The cool thing was, the Evil Other Photographer charged 80 SEK for a 13 x 18 cm photo, 100 SEK for an A5 and 150 SEK for an A4! :B That miiiiiiiiiight only work when the buyer has some sentimental connection to the pic... and his pics were so pwetty... but still! :)

~*~

My auction-won Goblet of Fire DVD arrived yesterday. It was new, fresh, crisp, supposedly Swedish, and actually Danish. The auction text said: "100% Swedish edition!" The photo showed a Danish edition. I assumed the seller had got his hands on editions from all over and only bothered to photograph one.

HELLO! MY EDITION OF GOBLET IS DANISH! HI, A DANISH-DUBBED ALAN RICKMAN IS SITTING ON MY SHELF! YAY! No. :S I was almost gonna ask for my money back... The guy was bloody lucky I didn't need subtitles, at least... but I watched a few deleted scenes (Ahhh, wizard rock! AHHHHHHHHHHHH, CHRISTMASSY SNAPE!) and my mood improved. Dammit. This was around 4am. :) Then I watched the movie, until a double dose of the first scene with the Voice knocked me out hot. :9

*multicoloured lights*

HAPPY B-DAY, ALAN! XD *jumphug* FUZZ-LOVE!

Please our man! Wear out your clickah fingah at TheLiteracySite or summat! :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had a day "off" (and tomorrow too) so I got the dentist over and done with. (That sounded pervy.) I was getting out and about today in any case. And in the unlikely event of bad dental news, at least a day such as February 21, 2006 can never be COMPLETELY ruined, eh? So, anyway, the dentist loves me. (Pervy dentist reference #2.) I've never had to risk swallowing a drill, my wisdom teeth have stopped emerging at least for now, minor plaque these days, and, um, I DO try to go easy on the gum-brushing since she told me a few horror stories about receding gums. 'Tis a mystery though:
Dentist: "Remember... once you brush away your gums, they NEVER GROW BACK."
Yoze: *GULP*
Wasn't talkative enough to ask WHAT happens once one digs down to the jaw bone. Someone mentioned surgery. Dentistlady never did. Perhaps the alternatives are
~Surgery for 500 000 SEK in Sweden
~Surgery for 500 000 x 0.33 SEK in cheaper nation :B
~Rotting skull
*shrug* That's what I imagine. :) Blasted.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Then, of course, it was PARTY TIME! Namely, the ceremonial purchase of Diary 31. I spotted a little beauty in December and kept hoping it would still be available in February. My favourite version, a pink book with a magnolia on it, wasn't... but my 2nd fave was. Fate. :p It's a blue book with a blue poppy on it. Hehe, at least there is room for some Harry Potter symbolism in there:

~I'm a Ravenclaw wannabe and their main house colour is blue
~The nurse's name is Poppy (and with whom can she exchange potion recepies if not Severus?)
~Poppies give us opium and Harry Potter is as addictive...
~...which makes Potheads a good name for the fans (pity pot is not a poppy product... the solution is to re-name the boy Harry Opiumfarmer or some such name)
~If it weren't so far-fetched, I'd write that Barry Trotter's friend Lon wished to be covered with poppy seeds when he was turned into a bagel. OMG.

I just... love magnolias so muuuuuch. :p WHAT AN IMPORTANT POST THIS IS!

I then hopped to the cinema and spent a few hundred years trying to decide whether I should see Nanny McPhee as planned, or follow a primitive impulse and see Goblet of Fire for the 4th time. (I was starting to miss The Voice + it was THE cast member's b-day.) Gaaaaah. I picked Nanny McPhee. Emma T and the bunch... (Pretty much the entire Love actually cast, except Alan of course, who I shall assume was... BUSY!) It was aight. :B

I would have dragged my dad along to Goblet of Fire. He is the only family member who still believes he enjoys total Potter-ignorance. His idea of Harry Potter is based upon one of the cheesiest scenes from one of the Columbus films. So not to be a cultural fascist, but one should not go through life avoiding Harry for the wrong reason, since there is a good chance any given person will enjoy Potterverse. :B (I assume that's why dad tried to teach me about classical music when I was wee. It was torture, but I would have checked out THAT myself otherwise!) Alas, I was unable to convince him about Goblet in time:

Yoze: "Hey, you can go with me to see Harry Potter on Tuesday."
Dad: "Nah."
Yoze: "Why?"
Dad: "FANTASY... OMG."
Yoze: "You know I'm not a general fantasy hysteric either, right?! Guess what that could mean?"
Dad: *ROTFLHAO* *is always proud to generalise*
Yoze: "Harry Potter is not very spaced-out or anything... Plz?"
Dad: "No."
Yoze: "But I'll pay!"
Dad: "What about my TIME?"
Yoze: "I'm SO glad I've seen certain movies I didn't think I wanted to see. This will even fit your taste, I think, an still you're free from expectations. But you can sleep or leave if you hate the sh*t!"
Dad: "I can't walk out of a crowded cinema!"
Yoze: *doubts crowds but* "We'll ask for edge seats."
Dad: "But getting downtown is such a hassle."
Yoze: "You... gasp... hop on the tram 50 m from work and open a paperback for 10 minutes, you fecking car-maniac! Besides, you need to spend time with me or I may start doing drugs."
Dad: "No, really, forget it."
Yoze: "You are being so unreasonable. All out of rational arguments."
Dad: "I don't feel like it."
Yoze: "Gawd, I'm TREATING YOU TO A MOVIE! Who says no to - OK, I'll say the same thing next time you want a favour."
Dad: "OMG, you can nag a hole into a rock. Unfortunately, you are dealing with someone at least as stubborn as yourself."
Yoze: "You know, it is common for negotiations about the creation of a nature reserve to go on for 20 years."
Dad: "So this is great training for you, HAHAHAHAHA!"
Yoze: "I'll give you 50 SEK if you go." *stupid*
Dad: "It's a matter of principles."
Yoze: "Would you go for 1 billion? Haha, some principles. 50 SEK!"
Dad: "Sigh..."
Yoze: "50 SEK" + "There's a lot of porn in the film" (mini-true) + "You don't know what you're missing" x 5000
Dad: "Oh, shut the feck up!"

Mum, today: "Yoze, dad told me he's changed his mind and will go to Harry Potter with you next week."

OMG my brilliant argument/s must have worked their magic in his sleep. Or they think I'm lonely. I haven't mentioned to them that people are banging down my door for cinema company. (OK, 2 have asked in modern times.) But they're scary strangers, and as I said, my prejudiced dad especially needs a decent introduction to Potterverse. (It ain't the books, but at least not Columbus either.) He will also understand Alan's greatness better, and I nag a lot about that at home. (Mum seems a lost cause in that respect, however.)

*flexes ranger nagging muscles*

Lucky I didn't see Goblet today then, not in place of McPhee or afterwards... It was a wee bit too late. :) I almost called my gran to see if she wanted to come along to the nanny movie, as she has stated she will watch any crap starring Emma Thompson. :)

For dinner I had the last of my weekend pizza. Only yer favourite food is good enough for February 21. :)

Fluffy green leftovers

Sorry I have not blogged for two months...! Ehehehe. At first I did not feel I had the time and then I was too tense about the upcoming exam and then I did not want to get sucked into cyberspace for eternity. Originally I had 600 topics piled up, I have now forgotten half of them and cannot be arsed to treat many of the rest. So they will not even join the digital disaster.

OK, I got some good Alan shite for Xmas:

  • Rasputin on DVD! OMG! I had been looking for it for two years... Nice movie! :B Ohhhhhhhh, Alan, I'm in heaven and it's hotter than HELL!
  • The Essential Shakespeare Live. 11 minutes of Alan in As you like it... exactly 20 years ago, minus 3 days! *nostalgic* Not that I saw the play. X'C

Two conversations out of my class, which, as usual, sounded much better IRL - December 2005, conservation seminar flying free as a passenger pigeon (also preferable IRL, but extinct):

E: We must teach the kids to recycle, step by tiny step!
B: We have to INFILTRATE them!
E: That's why we should all become Kindergarten teachers...
M: Rilly, I wasn't going to have kids in this shite world, but then my friend said *I* should have them and not just some moron! *I* should spread my environmentalist habits!
T: Wow, your friend has a good grasp of evolutionary theory.
M: The weird thing is, he's like this total HUMANIST!
Z: OMG!
E: We could adopt kids to pass on our habits.
M: Adopt the morons' kids.
E: Is there an age limit? Cuz if not, you can adopt the morons.
Class: *starts talking about crazy swede who adopted 40-yo indian*
--------------------------------------------
M: I can buy up carbon dioxide emission quotas? Where?! :D
Z: *COUGH* http://www.snf.se/ *COUGH*
M: And THEN, 40 years from now, when their value has gone WAY up, and I'm on my deathbed and childless, I can sell them for much more! 'Course... I won't be able to do anything with my profit... Yes! I can buy heroin for it all! Btw, seriously, if I ever get cancer I'll start doing heroin, it's supposed to be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO sweet! Though it would be tough if the cancer turned out to be some benign kinda skin cancer that could just be SCRAPED OFF!!! ROTF!!!

Note: Sadly, there will be little 2045 heroin for this bloke. I purchased an emission quota and they last only two years. :/ That is still nice I guess. (I gave it to my dad for Xmas, MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!)

But the idea of deathbed heroin is nice! I had heard it before. I was kind of going to... Mmmm, heroin... (Or Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad could just pop in...) But that was of course before I realised I wanted to burn all my leftover $$ on rainforest and stuff! Here's what I will do - I shall steal a kid's heroin. Saving the kid, saving more rainforest, enjoying my deathbed. Weeeee, win-win-win.

Unless, of course, the deforestation continues at the present rate, in which case it will all be gone in, what, 40 years??? and I will have to find out the second best alternative. SIGH, I HOPE GOOGLE WILL KNOW IT!!! Heck, anyway, it could happen way before then, if the forests collapse at certain critical sizes. X'C

I am reading the inspiring-depressing-nerve-wracking The future of life by Edward O. Wilson at the mo. OH MY GAAAAAAAAAWD!!! READ IT!!!

*represses a few dark misanthropic forbidden thoughts which might get me thrown off blogger and that would be a drag would it not*

Not counting all the nerdy, subjective ethical reasons, saving this shite would be easy *COUGH*reasoneducationcondomsveggiesandstuff*COUGH*, necessary and profitable for us, anyway. The question is... WILL THEY FIND OUT IN TIME?!

Goddamn, I'm angry, as my platitude-squirting bro would say. Having feelings sure sucks.

I'm a bad environmentalist too. According to my own ethics or whatever, I should kill myself, but... here I am... waiting for... um... Harry Potter 7! Yup! I will try to buy up my own eco-footprint in the meantime! :p At least! Cheaper for vegs. And third-worlders. On average.
Speaking of death, today I almost had a heart attack because...

GAG...

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...

PANT PANT PANT...

GASP...

Elijah Wood is going to be at the scifi con in March!
Now...

  • Elijah is not my favourite actor of all time
  • Brad is my favourite LOTR actor
  • Sean Astin cancelled last minute last year, so I'm not getting any silly hopes up
  • 50 000 000 people will camp outside the con because of Elijah
  • I will lose studying time
  • I will lose money
  • I will lose my dignity
  • I will lose my dignity again as I move on to the next celeb
  • I will perhaps lose my dignity a third time
  • I'm a Pothead, you know
Sure Elijah is among my favourites, and I was quite sweet on him 4 years ago, but half the heart attack was, I'd say, from surprise! :D I would not have thought OUR little con would get such a GIANT so SOON! I think I saw him on the guest list of Collectormania in the UK and said to my buddy "Look, at least Elijah visits cons, and in Europe too, what if he comes to Sweden" but I didn't believe he would! YAY!!!
Oh, and Gawd, if he cancels, replace him with NICK or BRAD plzthanx.

The Gothenburg Film Festival starts today. I haven't gone there since 2001, but now I'm seeing one Brad movie (The Wild Blue Yonder), one Thewlis movie (All the invisible children) and one horse movie (Zaïna, rider of the Atlas). :) THE Joaquin movie was sold out. Oh, it will run in such a nice cinema... :p Well, I was just trying to decide whether I should see an Elijah movie too, I guess I will now... Research and all, ya know... damdidamdidam... It looks funny and the festival tix are kinda cheap and what if I can never find it later in life...

FUNNY, I forgot to mention the exam. "He is evil" echoed through the corridors the next day. The exams have not yet been returned. I suppose they are working their way through mine - a mess of gut feeling and stress. Rhyme. They must either be in therapy or trying not to die from laughter. X'C

I've also quit da horseriding for the time being. Pretty good place, but I am sated at present, fecking climate, OMG other people, walking is exercise too, and the money could be better spent. Hehe... I used to mentally convert all money into DVD's, now it's London and... its opposite. :B

School... Goblet of Fire...! Robbie!

The new course is scary… They all are, but this one seems like MATH HELL!!! :O It’s all theory and models and formulas and moose harvest and that horrible EXCEL... (Granted, they threw in some heavy philosophy too. :B ) Which is... useful... if one is smart... :O

The teachers are two math geniuses who thinks everyone else is a math genius too. How familiar... One of them looks like a cross between David Thewlis and the guy who plays Zaphod Beeblebrox, btw. He’s a hunter and seemed a little scared of our young angry naïve hippy class:
“Hi, yeah, I hunt... Er, not that much though... I just think it’s... *GULP*... nice...”

More fun quotes heard in my class lately:

“So I was sitting here with Excel and I told the teacher ‘I don’t understand a fricken thing!’ and he was like ‘Hohoho, I’m going for a coffee break, hoho.’”

It sounded funny at the time. :p

“Oh, it’s aight, ALL biologists are afraid of math!!”

But none the way *I* am... :S

“Being the first-ever batch of students in our programme meant that we could get in on lower grades, since few people would know about the programme and apply. So... we’re stupider than the younger Rangers.”
“I believe you are right. Being out in the woods, that’s what we’re good at.”
“And having coffee breaks.”

When they said this, I think they had still chopped off more of Excel’s 7 heads than I had.

However, a certain November 18 arrived. This FRIDAY’S Excel task was a pieca greasy cake with no sleepy lecture afterwards. Probably because it was HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE PREMIERE DAY!!! XD It hit me at one point, in the afternoon, giddy-kind of hit me. :D I grabbed the tix and dragged my mum kicking and screaming into the town’s pwettiest cinema. They’ve got like 700 seats and a TINY entrance hall. I think those 700 Potheads were in it anyway.

But it was a nice premiere. :B The best Potter film yet! I can’t say I’ve been enthusiastic about any of the others. But now... heeeey... (Although Prisoner improved when I hadn’t read the book for a while... And I read Goblet in the summer. Stone and Chamber... Uh, at least Snape is in them.) The funniest. (I’m a sucker for comedy.) The most British director. (Um.) The most Sexiest-Alan-Sex-Scene-Ever-Directing director, too. *covers brain in black blanket* So maybe I was feeling extra kind to Newell already. :p

The most out-of-character Snape so far. :B But who minds? Er, fans and artists? Whatever. *runs*

The most squished hope of a Snape + McG tango scene. Possibly the smallest number of Snape lines ever.

But when The Voice was quiet, the man kept SHINING. Ooooooooooooohhhhhhhh. Every time he was on screen, they secretly sprayed those spam-marketed pheromones into the cinema, I tell you! +D~

And he was down there with MANY of the minor characters, I thought, as far as lack of screentime goes... :/

I STILL NEED THE DVD, NOW!!! SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE!!! (AND IT HAAAAAAAS TO INCLUDE THE SNAPE TANGO SCENE, YOU HEAR?!?)
And I need a GoF in 15 minutes... I hope y’all read PoA in 15 minutes. *love*

Oh well, fave moments that I can recall, in some kinda chronological order:

*** GOBLET OF FIRE SPOILER WARNING ***

  • Pwetty Barty Crouch Jr. Hey, was that the shadow David I spotted in Leicester Square? (:B
  • Ron waking up to find, AAAAAAAARGH, HERMIONE all over him.
  • Lucius scene #1! :D
  • The twins and the gang partying after the World Cup. Something beautiful about it all. :p
  • Filch’s run. WHY?!?
  • Snape: “...”
    Karkaroff: “...”
  • Dumbledore: “OMG entering the tournament will kill you ded!”
    The twins: “WICKED...!”
  • SNAPE spotting the Goblet spitting out Harry’s name.
  • Snape: *stands around*
    Mum: *nudge*
    Yoze: “SQUEAK!”
  • Sad Ron. Awww.
  • Cho: *sits around*
Harry: *totally loses control & sprays his juice all over the great hall*
  • Snape on the ground, covered in splinters after the dragon flies over him. Poor baby!
  • Owls.
  • Harry: *lies depressed on sofa, egg on his chest, cho on his mind*
    Crowd: “Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...”
  • Snape whacking Harry and Ron repeatedly, taking great care to set their heads straight, rolling up his sleeves... XD *gasps at sight of suddenly revealed snape hands* Go Snape! It’s SO very disturbing when people gossip loudly all over study rooms! :p
  • Snape thoroughly hiding behind a book while Twin asks out Angelina. By throwing objects at her.
  • Snape looking really strict and tense (wow, news) when Hermione hands him her book. “Dammit, I can’t bite her head off!”
  • McG: “Nowyouknow!”
  • Hermione trying to send Harry and Ron to bed.
  • Hermione freaking out at Ron after the ball.
  • Depressed ball princess Hermione hugging her sore foot on the steps.
  • Neville staying out all night... DANCING... Yup... ;B
  • Hermione describing the physical Krum. *snort*
  • Cedric almost asking Harry for a prefect’s bathroom date. XD
  • Harry: *strips*
Crowd: “WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” (Not me, you pervs! I was smart enough to stuff a handkerchief into my mouth!)
  • The blatant Moaning Myrtle vs The Foam.
  • Neville: “OMG! I killed Harry Potter!”
    Dumbledore: “You bahstahd!”
  • Snape’s cosy store room.
    *locks door*
    Ladder: *creak*
*sound of glass breaking from inside store room as snape and ratexla practise the tango and let me tell you, ratexla will never learn*
    *screams of pain from toe-stepping*
  • Snape climbing the ladder, quickly, smoothly, like some small animal... *scutter scutter*
  • Filch firing his cannon way too early about three times! :O What if it had been Snape? Someone would have needed to... tutor him in the art of... self-control...
  • Cool Ralph Fiennes. Scene #1! :D Oh, Face Scene #1, then.
  • Lucius scene #2! :D
  • Snape pouring a whole bucket of Veritaserum into Barty Jr. :B

While I personally didn’t care much about the World Cup or ferret scenes, I’m happy they kept them in, even though critics whined that they were UNNECESSARY: “Those scenes were only there to please the fans! BOOHOO!” Tough shite. I can think of a few more “unnecessary” SPICY UPCOMING SCENES. May the script writers never listen to those boring, Pothead-hatin critics.

*** END OF GOBLET OF FIRE SPOILER WARNING ***

I recently found out that Steve Kloves loves Alan very much. :D I guess it isn’t Kloves’s fault if they cut out loads of goodies either... He won’t write The Order of the Phoenix, but The Half-Blood Prince! And then Snape WILL be IMPORTANT, DAMMIT (even in the eyes of Potheadophobic critics)! Right?! Love + importance = hope for... er... 1 more second of Snape.

AND they want to film Order and Prince back-to-back. Can we hope for a... summer 2008 release of Prince?
Oh god... That is frighteningly distant... (I’ll be fresh out of uni, most likely hunting a DVD shop job! One of my “dream shite jobs”.)

Apparently the Order writer wrote the Peter Pan film, and someone said that a lot from that book was kept in. Mmmm, please feed us Order Snape... *opens little red beak*

Hey. Kloves says Alan is the only one who can act out ellipses? *learns word* I overuse ellipses! THIS IS A SIGN. Or not. :p

----------------------------------

In other newz, Robbie Williams is finally finally coming to MY town! I would have travelled to Stockholm to see him, did that in 2003, when I had become tired of waiting for a Gothenburg concert... But this is nice. (Mostly because I don’t get Stockholm’s tube system.) They sold 52 000 x 2 tix in 25 h! :D My Robbie-loving mum and I are going... I have to get to the front row. *dreams nightmares of 2nd row* Last time I was in 5th row or so... :B

Finger that mouse every day!

Make ClickAndSave your starting page and click on SOMETHING every day! DO IT!!! DO IT!!! DO IT!!! DO IT!!! CLICK!!!

And my new e-mail addy is ratexla_kettleburn83@planet-save.com :B *re-reads* Ah... Finally my luv for Nick & Alan will be nakedly obvious to anyone who wants to communicate with me, while 5 square feet of rainforest are saved by each e-mail I send! 8O GET YOUR OWN PLANET-SAVE ADDY, PWETTY PLEASE WITH SAP ON TOP! :x

With luck, the sites are true AND the laws protecting the saved pieces have TEETH.

OK, I've been growing sick of myself again and figured I could sweep up the great(est) number of species with each click if I found a, ahem, well-known and trustworthy rainforest charity. That old treehugger is blooming under the spell of my current uni course. We are told/reminded of horrible truths every day. If I had trouble sleeping, I... wouldn't sleep.

I want to drown my sorrows in films.

The Lawd: "Yoze, I have come to inform you that the world is totally fecked."
Yoze: "I know. I just traded in my left lung for a square centimetre of lichen in Brazil. I'm watching Closet Land to dull the pain here."
The Lawd: "YOZE, THE WORLD IS TOTALLY FECKED!"
Yoze: "Dude, are you deaf?"
The Lawd: "YOU MUST RIDE OUT AND [censored] MANKIND! OR AT LEAST TURN OFF THE TV! AND WHY HAVEN'T YOU SOLD CLOSET LAND YET?! OMFG IT'S PLASTIC TOO!"
Yoze: *scutter*

Exam question: "This is wee Sweden. What do you think should be done with the land?"
Them Rangers: "Shag Bill Gates. Buy Sweden. Release a few cloned mammoths. Shoot them if they eat more than 20% of the trees."

Biology (like fluffy animals, slimy animals and Alan) and the arts (like paperbacks and popcorn flicks and Alan) are the things I enjoy most at the mo. :)

Jane Ey-Something by Charlotte Bront-Something does Norway

Wow, I've got a blog? OK, since last time...

1. I went back to Norway. I did all the typical energetic Norway activites last year & shot all the mountains I could, so this time around I just READ. Jane Eyre - everyone talks about it. As usual, I suspect the majority of Everyone are Rickmaniacs. :D No doubt whom they had discussed as a role for Alan, even though I could not remember any names.

Mr Rochester...

AND HOW RIGHT THEY WERE! ALAN HAS TO PLAY MR ROCHESTER OR I'LL SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAM!

Evil producer: "Yeah Yoze, you just screamed. Forget the whole film. *BLAM*"

2. I passed the floristics, I MEAN HERBOLOGY, exam which everyone knew they were going to fail. Especially after the teacher told us he had ALMOST failed his. The plants we'd learned by heart were... easy enough, but then we had to identify the other half of the exam plants using a key, ie knowing what the hell the little book meant by "hairy", "red", "large" and "stinkin'", exactly.

Our greatest fear were the horribly difficult grasses. The grasses were our arch enemies. At least there wouldn't be more than 1 grass out of the 15 key exam plants... would there?
It would. 2/15 plants were grasses. I got them both wrong. Dragged down my grade. The grasses must all DIE!

Except oat.

3. At least I could now allow myself to go and see... The Island! The first movie I saw in the cinema mainly (in this case only) because of Ewan... Lucky I went though, because it wasn't as bad as They want you to believe. It was... in fact... about...

THE MEAT INDUSTRY

...I chose to think. Therefore I am extra annoyed that it flopped, if that's what happened! Oh well, now YOU know, so go & devour some propaganda spiced with the LOVELY EWAN!!! *stalks writer to ask about diet*

That steamy field trip report

1. TODAY IS MY FIRST ALAN-SPOTTING ANNIVERSARY!!! IT HAPPENED AROUND 5PM I THINK!!! ANYWAY!!! ALAN ALAN ALAN ALAN ALAN ALAN ALAN ALAN ALAN ALAN ALAN!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

2. I did end up in a room with...

THE GUY!!! :O

Feck, by now ya'll think I AM deeply in passion. Alas for you, he was shy around me/more likely BORED AND SCARED TO DEATH by me and so partied till 3.30am every night. Phew. I never got a chance to discuss anything with the hotel staff either (haha, everyone knows just how "good" I am at nagging), 'twas the guy who got the keys first. His responsibility to act shocked and scream "COOTIES!!!", and he didn't... dammit.

So desperate me was roomies with A GUY!!! Pity I didn't want him, but I thought of how cool any trip would have been if I became roomies with, say, Nick L/Alan/Joaquin/Brad D! :D The following situations would have taken place in a universe where Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad came along (hmm... bio-student trip... ah, bless your imagination) and are pretty much shaped like reality but upside down and mirrored and with inverted colours (I guess that sort of makes it "a negative", BUT IT WOULDN'T BE FECKING NEGATIVE!!!) and taste better when one licks the monitor.

~*~

Scene: Trip planning, day -5
Teacher: "So who here's got a driver license?"
Yoze: "ME ME ME ME!"
Teacher: "And which of you suckahs are early risers? We'll meet at the minivan rental place at 8am Monday."
Yoze: "Minivan? Maximum load? 8am? Monday? 300 km on the first day? COUNT ME IN!!!"
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "As I am the kindest and best of men, I'll drive too."
Yoze: "Noooo! You'll relax in my minivan, I drive very softly."

Scene: Minivan, day 1
Stereo: *blasting Yoze's Mixed Burning Love Song Soundtrack for nick/alan/joaquin/brad... i mean all the passengers*
Yoze: "Oops! Sorry I ran over that moose, guess I was staring at you Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad! NOOOOOOOOO, RAVIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE..."

Scene: Hotel and base camp, day 1
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "Oh, look here Yoze... Apparently the two of US will be staying in the same room!"
Yoze: "OMG! This is quite unexpected! Oh well, no turning back now, is there? Ehehehe..."

Scene: The Heron Room, day 1
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "..."
Yoze: "..."
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "So which bed do you want?"
Yoze: *faints* *resurfaces* "Doesn't matter, hehe... We're gonna share them at some point anyway."
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "Nice room, this... Bed's too soft though. It'll kill my poor back... I may have to sleep on the floor. No, seriously."
Yoze: "As I'm certain you've noticed, I'm a real hardarse. You may sleep on me for as long as you like. You don't even have to sleep."
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "Hmm, think I'll have a shower now."
Yoze: "Damn, I'm dying for a shower too. I just CAN'T wait."
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "What a luxurious bathroom!"
Yoze: "Wow... Yeah... Big shower... Wait for me! I didn't bring my bikini, since that would have meant bad weather luck, but what the hell. We'll be working together for the next four years and might as well get intimate."

Scene: The Heron Room, evening 1
Yoze (calling from bathroom): "It's all right Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad, I totally respect that you didn't want me in the shower with you. Well, good things come to those who wait and the late shower I just had was divine!"
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "That's... great."
Yoze: *trots into the room dressed in Tiny Pink Towel*
Yoze: *leans over to look for wildly imaginary item in bag*
Yoze: *gives up, turns around & leans over nick/alan/joaquin/brad*
Yoze: "Howd'ya like my Japanese cherry soap from Lushhhhh? Sniff right here... Oh, don't be shy, deeper you go, it's really... er... discrete and mild."
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "I'd better go and... join the others out there and have some whisky. You coming?
Yoze: "COMING?! BLOODY 'ELL, EVERY TIME I THINK OF Y -- um, of course I'll party with you!"
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "Damn, it accepted."

Scene: The Heron Room, day 2
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad gone rugged Aragorn: "Ahhh, lovely morning! I'm going swimming in the fjord before breakfast... You coming?"
Yoze: "COMING, HELL YEAH! AS I SAID -- but, YES! You remember I brought no bikini, don't you?"
Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad: "Damn, I forgot."

Scene: The fjord
Fjord: *is gorgeous xcept in certain ugly photos*
Yoze: "Nick/Alan/Joaquin/Brad, it's probably illegal to shag in fjords in daylight, but it's full moon tonight..."

~*~

I could describe the rest of the trip which was also gorgeous but as I a) have still got no grasp of geology and b) am trying to forget all about it as was decapitated by exam today, screw that for now! :D Well, Monkeys is *COUGH*updated*COUGH* and the pix from this one & onward were taken during the trip.

"Now I'm gonna go home and have a heart attack." ~Pulp Fiction

Except I'm home already, but I could take the E-dawg for a walk. Moulin Rouge-Audrey style: GOOD-BYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:O
